PREVENTIVE MEDICINE IS THE SECRET
Everybody wants a perfect healthy body, right? Not many of us can have a perfect body. However, most of us can have a healthy body. There are more ways today to have a healthy body than in all of history; we have access to more information, medicine, diet plans, exercise plans, and equipment to assist us to keep operative, healthy bodies. My definition of preventive medicine is not a pill or prescription, but actions we take in our lifestyles to prevent disease and damage to our bodies. So, why are we so unhealthy?
• Many people do not even think about whether they are healthy or not.
• Persons who have no severe pain assume they are healthy.
• Untold numbers are obese.
• Some populations of the world are without medical help or education.
It is quite common for most of us to not even think about whether we are healthy or not unless we have pain or a failure of some part of our body to function. The average person in the U.S. only goes to the doctor if they have pain. Much of the time that means you are late and need repair. We are long overdue to take charge of our own personal health.
What if we all practiced Preventive Medicine? You know, eat right, keep active (body and mind), get plenty of sleep and after age 40, get a physical check-up each year. Long periods of overeating, lounging, or no creative mental activity are detrimental to our health. This is the typical lifestyle these days in affluent cultures. Preventive lifestyles save pain, needless damage to our bodies, and bunches of money. About three fourths of the cost of healthcare in developed countries has a root cause in obesity.
Preventive lifestyles are a personal choice we all have to make. Are you looking for help to make sure you are making right choices. If you are overweight, then a diet plan is a good place to start. You might check out a place that will give you a choice of one that will not cost a bundle. Choosing a diet plan to loose weight is just a start to a healthy body. All the principles above must be incorporated into your lifestyle or the diet to loose weight will not be a lasting solution. The history of most dieters reveals that weight lost is gained back within a short time if no lifestyle changes are continued. You really are “what you eat.” Control of your food consumption is primary to keeping weight off. Exercise is the secret of retaining your vitality and strength of body and mind.
